hi, im hanna beth.
Lagomorpha Lover is a bit overkill, but sensitivity is what fosters feeling.
I'm a Fashion Design major at Marist College, specializing in fashion illustration and apparel development. As a non-binary designer, many of my collections and projects work towards finding a balance in working with both menswear/womenswear to create unisex clothing. My designs focus on elevating androgyny and reconstructing ideas of tradition and gender in a historical context. My minors in Fashion Merchandising and Product Development, alongside my progress towards a Philosophy minor, assist in cultivating a multifaceted approach towards fashion in a broader context.
My strongest design skills are more technical, as I thrive best in illustration, apparel construction, and pattern drafting. In fact, my love for apparel design and construction lends itself to teaching roles. Currently, I am a teaching assistant for the sophomore-level Apparel Development studio class. I share my experience and assist the students after class by correcting pattern drafts, monitoring garment fittings, and teaching different construction techniques, all the while facilitating a welcoming learning environment. I have also had the privilege of working as a Fashion Design Teacher’s Assistant for the Summer Pre-College Institute. I was able to not only help students by correcting fashion illustrations and instructing figure and fabric rendering, but also practice my own skills in fashion illustration, teaching, and leadership.
I thrive best in challenging environments that require quick and creative problem-solving. I am always looking forward to more opportunities, not just in design but also in expanding my perspectives on the world. Feel free to reach out and give me a reason to think about stuff.
